Finding places and getting answers

What is Openbookly?

Openbookly is a map-based business discovery service where you can find places and ask AI questions about a selected business. Business owners can claim their profile, add text knowledge for customer answers, and review conversations and optional follow-up requests in a private dashboard.

Do I need an account to search or ask a question?

No. Public map search and standard AI conversations are free and available without signing in, subject to availability and fair-use limits. Select a business on the map or in search results, then open its conversation. An account is needed to manage a business.

Where do the AI answers come from?

For a claimed business, the assistant uses owner-provided information when available. Answers grounded in supplied knowledge are labeled “Based on information provided by the business.” If no relevant knowledge is available, the answer is labeled AI guidance. For an unclaimed business, the assistant uses its existing model knowledge by default; those answers are not approved by the business and may lack current details. AI can make mistakes, so confirm important information directly with the business.

Does every question search the web?

No. For an unclaimed business, an online lookup is enabled only when you explicitly ask for one in your current message, such as “search online.” Asking about current hours or prices alone does not enable a lookup. Online answers include available source links. Claimed-business answers use the owner's knowledge and do not perform web searches.

How do I ask a business to contact me?

Choose Request follow-up in the selected business conversation, provide the contact details you want to share, and give your consent. You can add details about your request. For a claimed business, the request is available in the owner's inbox. For an unclaimed listing, it waits until an owner joins. A request does not confirm a booking, send an email on your behalf, or guarantee a reply.

How do I claim my business on Openbookly?

Open the business dashboard, sign in with a confirmed email, and find your business. Enter your business details from information you are authorized to use, and confirm that you own or are authorized to manage the business. Claims use confirmed email and an ownership declaration; they are not independent verification of ownership. If your listing is already claimed by someone else, contact Openbookly for help.

What can I add to my business knowledge base?

Write or paste text about your services, products, menu, policies, or frequently asked questions. You can also load a plain text (.txt) or Markdown (.md) file. Each note supports up to 100,000 characters; file uploads must be under 400 KB. Each business can hold up to 50 notes and 2 million characters. Only include accurate information you have permission to share with customers.

Can I share a link to my business?

Yes. Use Share on your selected business card or in your business dashboard to copy or share its Openbookly link. The link opens that business on Openbookly, where customers can ask questions without signing in. You can place the link on your website or include it in your own customer communications.

Plans and privacy

How much does Openbookly cost?

Openbookly Free costs $0 and includes a claimed business profile, text knowledge, a customer AI assistant using GPT-5.6 Luna, and customer conversations without sign-in. Premium costs $20 USD per month for each subscribed business and adds a gold star on the map and GPT-6 Astra answers. Each business has its own plan. Applicable charges and any taxes are shown at checkout.

What are the Premium AI request limits?

Premium allows up to 500 AI requests per business in a 24-hour window, shared across all its customers. Each question or follow-up uses one request, and unsuccessful attempts can count. The window resets 24 hours after its first request. Monthly fair-use limits may pause answers before this ceiling is reached. When a limit is reached, answers pause and customers are asked to try later; Premium does not switch to the Free model.

What does the gold star on a business mean?

A gold star means the business has active Openbookly Premium access. It is not a customer rating, a recommendation, or independent verification of ownership. Premium does not guarantee a particular search ranking or customer response.

How do I cancel Premium?

Open the billing section of your business dashboard and use the Stripe billing portal to cancel. Subscriptions renew monthly until canceled, and paid access normally continues through the current billing period. Each business subscription is managed separately. Deleting a knowledge note does not cancel a subscription.

Who can see my conversation and follow-up details?

New conversations are saved for 90 days and can be reviewed by the corresponding business owner, including after an unclaimed business joins. Follow-up contact information is shared only with your consent; signing in alone does not share your email. Separate follow-up form details are not sent to the AI model. Authorized Openbookly operators can inspect OpenAI request logs, which contain conversation context and business knowledge excerpts and are stored for at least 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
